A League City family is dealing with a double dose of tragedy after someone burglarized the home of their deceased loved one and got away with some precious family heirlooms.
Sandy Howard passed away about three weeks ago. Just a day or two after her funeral, someone entered her home through an unlocked back door and ransacked the place. They got away with a 32-inch flat-screen television.
But more importantly to the family, the thieves also stole three antique dolls that had been in the family for several decades.
"For this to happen... It is just unnerving and how someone could do that actually and not have a conscience," said Deeann Peterson, Sandy's sister.
"We just want her dolls back for her, for our family," said Stacie Brown, Sandy's daughter.
The family said they know it will be hard to recover the items, but they hope the person or people responsible will return the dolls out of the kindness of their hearts.
