You often hear about thieves stealing electronics when they break into people's homes, but one local family said the crooks who broke into their home stole something far more precious.
Davion Parker said that when his daughter, Dazmyne, came home from school on Wednesday afternoon, she noticed a window was broken and the front door was unlocked.
"She walked in the house and saw our front TV missing, a TV missing out of our room, my whole room ransacked and all the drawers taken out," said Parker.
Some Christmas presents were missing from the home in the 4100 block of Dalmatian Drive, too.
It's bad enough to be burglarized, but that wasn't the worst of it. The thieves snatched all six of the family's puppies from the garage.
Parker said his kids had already bonded with the puppies and admitted the entire family is heartbroken.
"The babies weren't even really weaned off of their mother, so, you know, at this point they still need their mom," Parker said.
Parker isn't counting on a reunion any time soon. In fact, he doubts he'll ever see the puppies again.
"I was mad. I was mad about everything. Why don't people get their own jobs and buy their own stuff? Why break into hard working people's homes and take their stuff?" Parker said. Parker planned to sell all but one of the puppies. It's the second time this year the family has been hit by thieves.
