Texas Southern University announces plans for new $41M, 800-student dormitory
Texas Southern University has announced plans for a $41 million on-campus dormitory capable of housing about 800 students.
Spokeswoman Eva Pickens said Monday that TSU regents recently approved plans for the seven-story, 215,000-square-foot complex.
Construction should start in May. The new residence hall is expected to be completed by mid-2014. Pickens says the layout will be double-occupancy rooms with a shared restroom.
Pickens says two current residence halls on the Houston campus have a combined total of about 800 students. She says three TSU apartment-style complexes nearby house about 1,000 students.
Pickens says current TSU enrollment is about 10,000.
