HOUSTON -

A high school teacher has been accused of trying to have a sexual relationship with a student.

Jeffrey Guzman, 32, has been charged with two counts of improper relationship with a student.

According to the Alief Independent School District, Guzman taught economics at Elsik High School for nine years.

Court documents said Guzman, who is married, sent explicit text messages, including photos, to a senior student in March.

Guzman later went to the student's home, where he picked her up and the two kissed in his car, investigators said. According to court documents, Guzman also sexually touched the girl and she got him to stop after telling him that she was on her menstrual cycle.

Detectives said they spoke to two former students, who both told them that they had sex with Guzman when they were 18 years old.

Alief ISD officials said Guzman has been placed on administrative leave and his termination is pending.
