Teacher accused of sex assault meets judge
A high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenager appeared in court Wednesday.
Jason M. Lont, 35, a Katy High School theatre teacher, has been charged with sexual assault of a child 14 to 17 years old.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said they began investigating Lont after the 15-year-old boy's mother found inappropriate text messages on her son's phone.
Investigators said that Lont picked up the teen at least twice and took him back to his home, where Lont performed oral sex on the teen.
Lont and the teen met on Grinder, a cellphone app for gay, bisexual or bi-curious males to chat, deputies said.
The Katy Independent School District has placed Lont on administrative leave. He has worked for the school district since the 2005-06 school year.
School district officials said the 15-year-old was not a student at Katy High School.
Lont has been released from jail on $30,000 bond.
