A teacher at an Humble high school has been charged with indecency with a child.

Guy Michael Anderson, 50, was arrested on Sept. 20. He was released on $30,000 bail.

Anderson has been accused of molesting a 9-year-old relative while she spent the weekend at his house in Humble on March 2. The girl told authorities that Anderson groped her under her shirt.

Anderson is a journalism teacher at Atascocita High School. Anderson has been a teacher in the Humble Independent School District since 2003.

A spokeswoman for Humble ISD said that Anderson was placed on leave Sept. 21 -- the day after his arrest.

"The allegations (against Anderson) do not involve a district student or school activity," Humble ISD officials said in a brief statement.

Parents said they were upset that the school district did not alert them to the allegations.

"The fact that I have two daughters who go to school here, it's nerve-wracking," parent Rachel Rodriguez said.

An emergency protective order was also issued, officials said.
