A high school teacher has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenager.
Jason M. Lont, 35, a Katy High School theatre teacher, has been charged with sexual assault of a child 14 to 17 years old.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said Lont exchanged inappropriate text messages with a 15-year-old boy.
Investigators said that Lont picked up the teen at least twice and took him back to his home, where Lont performed oral sex on the teen.
Deputies said they began investigating Lont after the teen's mother found the inappropriate messages on her son's phone.
Lont and the teen met on Grinder, a cellphone app for gay, bisexual or bi-curious males to chat. Investigators said the teen told them that Lont contacted him and that he told Lont that he was 16.
The Katy Independent School District has placed Lont on administrative leave. He has worked for the school district since the 2005-06 school year.
Students had mixed reactions to the allegations.
"It's crazy that he's worked at our school and that he's around all these kids all day," one student said. "It's really kind of creepy."
"He's a professional," another student said. "He cares about his job, he cares about his life, he cares about the students here."
Lont is being held in the Harris County jail with bond set at $30,000.
