Tall, dark & handsome bank robbery suspect identified

HOUSTON -

Investigators have identified a man wanted in connection with two bank robberies, but they need help to find the man dubbed the "tall, dark and handsome" bandit.

John "Steven" Stark, 46, has been charged in connection with the robbery of a Bank of America in Beaumont on Jan. 30. Investigators said Stark passed the teller a threatening note demanding cash, but he never spoke.

Detectives said Stark is wanted for questioning in connection with the robbery of a Comerica Bank in the 3100 block of the Southwest Freeway on Thursday. Officials said the robber passed the teller a threatening note demanding cash.

Stark is white, 6 feet tall and about 230 pounds. He has been known to drive a silver 2006 Toyota Corolla with Texas license plate No. 699XPW, officials said.

Investigators said Stark's last known address is in Liberty County, but he has friends in the Beaumont and Houston areas.

Anyone with information regarding Stark's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or the FBI at 713-693-5000.
