Bank robbery suspect: Tall, dark & handcuffed
A bank robbery suspect dubbed the "tall, dark and handsome" bandit has been arrested.
John "Steven" Stark, 46, was taken into custody outside the Parkdale Mall in Beaumont Wednesday morning. Investigators said he was trying to get into a taxi.
FBI agents, as well as task force officers with the Beaumont Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Port Arthur Police and the Texas Department of Public Safety helped with the arrest.
A manhunt for Stark kicked off after a bank robbery was reported earlier at a Prosperity Bank in Beaumont. The robber fit Stark's description. The getaway car matched the description of the car Stark was believed to have been driving.
Stark has been charged in connection with the robbery of a Bank of America in Beaumont on Jan. 30. Investigators said Stark passed the teller a threatening note demanding cash, but he never spoke.
Detectives said Stark is wanted for questioning in connection with the robbery of a Comerica Bank in the 3100 block of the Southwest Freeway on Feb. 2. Officials said the robber passed the teller a threatening note demanding cash.
Stark was featured as a wanted fugitive on digital billboards in the Houston area.
The FBI said tips from the public helped investigators identify and charge him.
