Suspect posts bail, stabs cab driver

HOUSTON -

A Yellow Cab driver has been stabbed during a robbery.

Officials said the suspect, Jose Lopez, was in jail for outstanding warrants and bonded out around 6:30 Sunday morning.

Police said he was then picked up by a cab driver.

Officials said the 49-year-old driver was headed to the Gulf Freeway and Telephone road when, for some reason, he got lost and eventually stopped at a Valero gas station on Telepsen.

That's when, Investigators said, things started to heat up. Officials said the two men got into an argument and Lopez pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the cab driver in the hand, then took off in his cab.

Investigators said Lopez was stopped about 45 minutes later at I-45 and Scott Street, and was arrested without incident.

Lopez could now face aggravated assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charges.

The victim was taken to the hospital to treat his wound.
