A man suspected in a string of robberies at sandwich shops in The Heights has been arrested, police said.

Herbert Lee Alfred, 48, has been charged with robbery.

Houston police said Alfred was arrested outside a Subway shop in the 3600 block of the Katy Freeway on Wednesday.

Detectives said officers were running a surveillance operation on the shop because it has been robbed twice recently. Alfred matched the description of the suspect wanted in those robberies.

Police said Alfred may also be responsible for other robberies, including on at the Quizno's on Yale Street on Monday.

The owner of the Quizno's said the same man had robbed his restaurant before.

Investigators are working to determine if Alfred may be connected to any other robberies.
