Suspect arrested in mail carrier's robbery
Police: 19-year-old demanded mail carrier's wallet
Police have arrested a man who has been accused of robbing a US Postal worker in Pearland.
Pearland police said they believe 19-year-old Derelle Marquis Hollins approached a mail carrier who was delivering mail in the 12300 block of Shady Brook in the Shadow Creek Ranch subdivision.
According to officials, Hollins had pulled out a gun and demanded the mail carrier's wallet. After taking the victim's money, police said Hollins fled on foot and is believed to have left the area in a dark blue Hyundai Sonata with paper tags.
Police said it was Hollins's vehicle that led police to his identity. On Wednesday, a witness reported to police that she had seen a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle northbound on Cullen Boulevard. The witness copied down the tag number and called police.
Hollins has been charged with aggravated robbery, which is a first-degree felony.
Authorities said they also believe Hollins is responsible for the burglary of his grandfather's residence in the 1300 block of Starlight Bay. Hollins has also been charged with burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony.
