TEXAS CITY, Fla. -

"I forgive you," was written on the front door of a Texas City surf shop that was the target of thieves.

Store owner Mathew Wyatt said his heart sunk when he got the call from police that the business he had started when he was only 18 had been burglarized.

Investigators said the crook broke in though the glass door of the Rise Surf Company on North Street on January 14, getting away with lots of merchandise.

However, Wyatt said he's not angry but simply feels violated.

"It definately hurts that somebody would do that to you, but you just have to move on, man," said Wyatt.

Wyatt, who is also a Texas City firefighter, said he hopes his message of forgiveness will make the burglar come forward and confess.

"Hopefully something good will come from this."
