Student dies after collapsing on football field
A college student died after he collapsed while playing football with friends.
Jason Mouton, a freshman liberal arts major from Houston, died after collapsing on the Blinn College campus in Brenham, Texas, on Tuesday evening.
Relatives said Mouton was practicing about 7 p.m. and began to not feel well, so he was taken to the side of the field. He passed out and died at a nearby hospital, family members said.
Relatives said Mouton had asthma but no other known pre-existing medical conditions.
College officials said counselors are available for students and staff who need help dealing with Mouton's death.
A candlelight vigil was held in his honor on Wednesday evening. He will be laid to rest on Saturday.
