A student has been accused of taking a gun to a southwest Houston high school.

Edgar Flores, 17, has been charged with carrying a weapon in a prohibited place, a third-degree felony.

Fort Bend County school district officials said the gun was found at Willowridge High School, 16301 Chimney Rock, about 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials said the gun, which was loaded with two bullets, was discovered after a student gave a tip to two school resource officers.

A letter was sent home to parents to make them aware of the situation.

Flores has a criminal history. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail in August after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend.
