Rain from Wednesday's storms overwhelmed parts of the storm sewer system, causing a stinky situation near a university.

City crews blocked off an area near Travis and Girard after a storm sewer backed up near the University of Houston Downtown.

Raw sewage could be smelled and seen in the area.

Crews worked throughout the evening to fix the problem.
