The Cy-Fair Independent School District bus crashed in the 13000 block of Copeland Oaks Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.
Cellphone video showed parents desperate to find their children on the bus, which stopped just short of crashing into a home.
Brenda Collins and her son, Austin, watched the crash from their kitchen window.
"I literally thought I was on a movie set of Speed or something," said Brenda Collins. "I was thinking, 'Oh my goodness, she is going to hit us.'"
"I started yelling, 'Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!' It was coming straight at us. It was coming right at the window I was standing at. It was uncontrollable and it was going pretty fast," said Austin Collins.
The bus was filled with Hamilton Elementary students who live in the neighborhood.
Witnesses said the bus driver lost control, hit two mailboxes, drove over the median and crashed into a tree on the Collins' front lawn.
"Thank God the tree was there," said Brenda Collins.
The mother and son said they ran out to check on the students and the driver.
"They were all screaming and crying, but the bus driver did an amazing job. She calmed them down," said Brenda Collins.
Collins heard the bus driver asking the students if they were injured and telling them that she would call the police.
Cy-Fair ISD said it contacted the parents after the crash.
No one was injured.
The crash is under investigation.
