School administrator under investigation
Letter doesn't answer 'who' or 'why'
An elementary school administrator is under investigation for misconduct, but who it is and why remains a mystery.
Most parents with children at Kings Manor Elementary School received a letter from the superintendent of the New Caney Independent School District this week.
According to the letter, the administrator at the center of the investigation is on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
In the letter, the superintendent said the allegations do not involve misconduct directed at students.
Many parents were discussing the letter when they picked up their children from school on Friday.
"I hope we do get some information from the district, that it is clarified," said Vanessa Madrid. "I think time will tell."
"It was necessarily vague. You know you don't want to put a bad spotlight on an innocent person," said Mike Taylor.
But Taylor said he would feel better if he had an idea of what the allegations were.
"I wouldn't mind some idea of what's going on. You know, I'm out to protect my children," he said.
While the district said the letters went out at the beginning of the week, Stacey Sims said Friday was the first she had heard of it, and only through word of mouth.
"I did not get the letter at all. I'm shocked," Sims said.
Sims said the letter raises more questions than answers.
"An illness, you know, if he wanted privacy for that I could understand, but this seems strange," said Sims.
The letter to parents said the district will not reveal more now to preserve the integrity of the investigation and to protect the employee's privacy. However, the letter does state that the district is temporarily bringing in a principal from another school as a replacement for the unidentified administrator.
Kelley Mattlage, Director of Communications and Community Relations for the district, told KPRC Local 2 that the human resources director and district attorneys are leading the investigation.
