HOUSTON -

A high school sent a letter home to parents Monday after a threatening message was found on campus.

Austin High School officials said the message was found in a girl's locker room at the end of last week.

School officials said they don't think the threat is credible, but they're not taking it lightly. A canine officer visited the school and didn't find anything of concern. Safety and emergency procedures have been reviewed and additional Fort Bend Independent School District officers will be on campus as a precaution on Wednesday. Officials said there was also extra security at Friday's volleyball game, and there was not an incident then.

The nature of the threat has not been released, but officials said it was written in graffiti-style.

Officials said that if parents decide to keep their children home from school because of this threatening message, that absence will be considered unexcused.

Anyone with information regarding the message is asked to call Fort Bend County ISD Crime Stoppers at 281-491-TIPS.
