HOUSTON -

Two Sam's Club employees were robbed at gunpoint outside a store in Pearland Wednesday night, police said.

Demerris Edwards, 22, and Kadijah Wyrick had just finished their shifts at the store in the 15800 block of  Highway 288 near Discovery Bay Drive around 9:45 p.m. They were walking to their car when a dark, older-model Jeep Cherokee approached.

One man got out of the SUV, officials said, carrying a gun and wearing a bandanna.

"I heard the guy running up. I turned around. As soon as I turned around, he had the gun in my face," Edwards said. "I knew it was bad when I seen the gun."

The man then demanded the employees hand over their valuables.

"He demanded money and ended up clocking the male subject in the head with the gun," said Lt. Onesimo Lopez with the Pearland Police Department.

"He hit me in the back of the head with the gun," Edwards said. "I fell to the ground."

The robber eventually got away with Edwards' wallet, cash, a watch, and other belongings. A witness told police there were two other suspects who stayed in the Jeep. They all escaped.

Wyrick was not hurt. Edwards is expected to recover.

Edwards said he prayed God would protect him and Wyrick.

"I hope they get caught," Edwards said.

Pearland police said the store's surveillance video may have captured the robbery.

Police have a warning if something like this ever happens to you.

"When you have an individual that committed to doing this type of robbery, they are going to do what they need to do. So the best thing you can do as a possible victim is when you're approached by somebody who is armed, just surrender whatever they want. If they want money, just hand it over," Lopez said.

The store opened for business on Sept. 27.
