HOUSTON -

Houston Police have reopened a street after a standoff in a southwest Houston neighborhood.

Police officers attempting to arrest a man wanted for murder were forced to restrain him with Tasers and a K-9, authorities said.

The standoff happened near Cypress and Cantrell streets just before 9 p.m. Streets in the immediate area remained shut down for about an hour Tuesday night as police investigated the situation.

Authorities said the suspect refused to cooperate and made threats.

Officers called for the SWAT team, but said the man jumped the fence and charged at them before back-up arrived. That's when officers used Tasers and a police dog to stop him, according to police.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital to be treated for some minor wounds, including a dog bite.

The suspect's name has not been released.
