HOUSTON -

SWAT officers were sent to a southwest Houston apartment complex Monday after murder suspects would not come out of a unit, officials said.

Houston police said six men refused to come out of an apartment in the 10100 block of Forum Park at Bissonnet at 2 a.m. despite police orders.

Investigators said two of the men, Joshua Horhn, 20, and Cedric Johnson-Franklin, 21, and were suspects in a double murder. Police said they were charged with capital murder in the deaths of Treaon Bush, 24, and Tremaine Burnett, 21, in the 12700 block of Dairy Brook at 3:45 a.m. Saturday. A third man was wounded.

Officers evacuated 24 families in the Forum Plaza apartment complex, knocking on their doors and telling them they were in danger of possibly getting hit by stray bullets.

"(Police said) 'We can't really tell you what's going on, but there might be stray bullets,'" resident Crystal Cunningham said. "They were like, 'We got some stuff going on and it's safer for y'all not be in the apartment.'"

"I was thinking possible shootout," resident Tyrone Williams said.

"I did hear the police banging on the door trying to get them to open the door," said a resident who did not want to be identified.

The men were apprehended at 6:40 a.m. Monday.

"Once we established the loud speakers, the two murder suspects surrendered peacefully and came outside first," said John Cannon with the Houston Police Department.

Four others in the apartment were also taken in for questioning.
