Restaurant robbery caught on camera
Witnesses say crook used knife, bat, in failed robbery at Wings 'n' More
Caught on camera: Restaurant robbery
Surveillance cameras rolled as a robbery suspect stormed into north Houston restaurant and used a baseball bat to demand cash from an employee, investigators said.
The robbery happened Jan. 14 at the Wings 'n' More restaurant in the 9400 block of the North Freeway near West Mount Houston.
Several families with young children were eating in the dining room when a heavily tattooed man started wildly swing a baseball bat, police said.
Several touch screen monitors on the counter were destroyed in the incident, investigators said. Because the monitors were broken, employees were then unable to open the cash register to get the crook any money. He then used a knife to try to pry the register open, but that failed.
Witnesses told investigators the suspect looked to be around 35 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and around 185 pounds. Police said he ran out of the restaurant a few minutes later and escaped in a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser he had parked in a nearby handicap spot.
No one was injured, but an employee said the night manager working that evening has resigned.
Police are asking for the public's help identifying the wanted man, who may have a skull tattooed on his bald head. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
