Molded deli meat and potentially hazardous chicken -- it's what is in this week's Restaurant Report Card.
We begin at Lupe Tortilla's on the Southwest Freeway between Shepherd and Kirby. When health inspectors stopped by, they said they found a small roach crawling inside a soda gun holder at the bar. They also noted pinkish-black slime in the ice machine.
KPRC Local 2 wanted to take a look to make sure employees have cleaned it out, but manager Ulysses Gonzalez asked the station to come back in two to three hours.
Inspectors condemned 234 pounds of chicken at Chick-fil-A in Willowbrook Mall that they said was off-temperature. The uncooked meat was 14 degrees warmer than allowed by the state health code.
At Rioja at 11920 Westheimer, inspectors said they found green and white mold on a 1-pound roll of deli meat. Workers tossed it.
Inspectors said there were a lot of dead roaches at Anthony's Pizza at 736 Greens Road.
Inspectors described the ice machine at Bravos Mexican Restaurant at 5101 Bingle as "filthy" because it was full of slime.
There was more of the slippery stuff around the ice shoot of the ice machine at Ruby Tequila's at F.M. 1960 and state Highway 249, inspectors said.
Kudos this week go to Saltgrass Steakhouse at 11900 East Freeway and Yogurtland inside Memorial City Mall. Both restaurants earned A's in this week's Restaurant Report Card.
