HOUSTON -

A registered sex offender has been accused of a crime against children.

Clarence Eugene Pope, 58, has been charged with possession of child pornography.

Houston police said Pope sold his computer and the new owner found the images and turned them over to investigators.

Detectives later seized a computer that Pope still owned. According to court documents, more than 150 pornographic images were found on it.

When he appeared in front of a judge Thursday morning, he denied any wrongdoing.

"Your honor, I think you have the wrong man," Pope said.

Pope has a history of crimes against children. In 1983, he was convicted of raping an 8-year-old girl in Fort Worth. In 1994, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Raines County.

Pope is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.
