Country singer Randy Travis was arrested on a public intoxication charge early Monday.
Denton County sheriff's deputies said Travis was spotted in front of a church in Sanger, Texas, with an open bottle of wine.
Detectives said Travis smelled like alcohol and was taken into custody.
Travis was booked into the Denton County Jail about 1:30 a.m. and he was released a few hours later.
Investigators said it is common for people arrested on a similar charge to be taken to jail for a few hours to sober up.
The charge is a class-C misdemeanor.
Sanger, Texas, is about 15 miles north of Denton, Texas.
Travis owns a ranch in Tioga, Texas, which is about 25 miles east of Sanger, Texas.
