HOUSTON -

A homeless man stabbed a Randalls employee outside a Midtown store, police said Tuesday.

The employee, Ramon Martinez, 26, was in the parking lot of the grocery store in the 2200 block of Louisiana Street when investigators said a homeless man approached him and a friend around 3:30 a.m.

Witnesses said the homeless man, Joshua Davis, began yelling profanities so Martinez and his friend walked away. Police said Davis followed them, pulled out a knife and stabbed Martinez in the back.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition. He is expected to recover.

Davis was arrested and the weapon was recovered. He faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
