The heat can be dangerous for children playing sports outside. Proper hydration is key.
Doctors are advising parents to make sure their children drink 12 ounces of water before they leave the house.
"When they're outside, the rule of thumb is to stop every 20 minutes and make them drink something whether they say they're thirsty or not," said pediatrician Debra Cutler of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
High school senior Joshua Hakakian said he feels much better when he drinks water before, during and after a football game.
"I feel a difference. You feel tired. Doesn't feel right. When you're hydrated, you have a lot more confidence. My body is doing good," said Hakakian.
