THE CANDIDATES TOOK CENTER STAGE AT CENTRE COLLEGE AT 9 P-M SHARP. THEY SHOOK HANDS...SMILED BROADLY AND DOVE RIGHT IN TO A TRAGIC AND TRICKY FOREIGN POLICY ISSUE FOR THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION...THE ATTACK ON THE U-S CONSULATE IN BENGHAZI THAT KILLED AMBASSADOR CHRIS STEVENS AND THREE OTHERS. PAUL RYAN IMMEDIATELY ATTACKED THE ADMINISTRATION FOR WAITING WEEKS TO CALL THE SEPTEMEBER 11TH ASSAULT AS A TERRORIST ATTACK.
They sent the UN ambassador out to say this was because of protests of a youtube video. it took the president two weeks to acknowledge this was a terrorist attack
BIDEN QUICKLY DEPARTED FROM PRESIDENT OBAMA'S SUBDUED DEBATE DEMEANOR..INTERUPTING RYAN AND CALLING HIM A LIAR WITHIN THE FIRST TEN MINUTES.
with all due respect that's a bunch of malarky. (and why is that so) not a single thing he said is accurate
THE VERBAL JOUSTING CONTINUED THROUGH DISCUSSIONS ON IRAN WITH RYAN CRITIZING OBAMA'S RECORD...WHILE BIDEN OFTEN SMILED BROADLY BEFORE MAKING AN AGGRESSIVE COUNTERPOINT.
(ryan)you know what the unemployment rate is in Scranton?
(biden)sure do.
(ryan)I'ts ten percent. you know what it was when you took office? 8.5 percent. that's how its going all around america.
(biden)you dont read teh statistics that's not how its going..it's going down,.
RYAN RARELY ROSE HIS VOICE BUT GOT AN AUDIENCE REACTION ON THIS QUIP....
i think the vice president knows..that sometimes the words dont come out of your mouth the right way. (laughter) but i always say what i mean
WHAT MATTERS MORE...IS WHETHER OR NOT THE VOTERS LIKE WHAT THE MEN HAVE TO SAY...AS THE RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE CONTINUES TO TIGHTEN. I'M STACEY COHAN REPORTING.
