A driver led police on a chase through neighborhood streets in northeast Houston on Wednesday.

Houston police said officers tried to pull the driver over on the 610 Loop near the Eastex Freeway, but he took off.

Officers chased the driver up and down neighborhood streets for several minutes before the vehicle stopped on 610 near Lockwood.

Detectives said a man bailed out of the car and ran across the freeway. Police searched a nearby neighborhood for him. A detailed description of the man has not been released.

Investigators have not said what prompted the attempt to pull the driver over or why the driver gave chase.
