A police chase Tuesday evening ended with a collision in south Houston.

Houston police said officers began chasing a driver on Old Spanish Trail about 5 p.m.

Officials said they were chasing the man because the vehicle he was driving, a Cadillac Escalade, has been reported stolen.

The chase ended about five minutes later when the driver hit another vehicle, a Nissan, head-on in the 3100 block of Old Spanish Trail near Yellowstone.

Police said the driver of the Nissan was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.

The driver of the stolen car tried to run away, but police captured him a short time later. His name has not been released.
