Police catch car chase suspect in shower
HPD: Suspect clocked going more than 110 mph
A high speed chase suspect was captured, not on the road, but in the shower of his Humble apartment, officials said Friday.
The man was clocked going more than 110 mph on the North Loop near Woodway Drive near Memorial Park shortly after 3 a.m.
When officers tried to pull him over, they said he refused to stop.
He lead them from the North Loop to the Eastex Freeway and then north on Beltway 8.
At one point during the chase, the man was going more than 120 miles an hour in his "Dukes of Hazard" style orange Dodge Charger, authorities said.
The suspect got off the Beltway and was spotted driving along a feeder road and then he turned into the Cascade At Fall Creek apartments.
Officers found his car in the complex parking lot, traced his plates and found his address, which led them to a nearby apartment.
His girlfriend answered the door, but police said they found the suspect in the shower. He admitted to fleeing from police.
According to HPD, the man told them he did not stop because he had marijuana and did not want to lose his car.
He now faces felony evading and marijuana possession charges.
His car was also impounded.
No one was hurt.
