Police: Woman drunk, passed out watching grandchildren
Terri Lynn Watson charged with felony child endangerment
Police: Grandma found passed out while babysitting kids
A Katy grandmother was charged with felony child endangerment after police found her passed out drunk on the floor of her Galveston hotel room while she was supposed to be watching her 3- and 6-year-old grandsons.
Police arrested Terri Lynn Watson after hotel security saw her 6-year-old grandson wandering the lobby of the Hotel Galvez alone.
When the officers went into Watson's room, they said they saw multiple bottles of alcohol and marijuana. Watson's 3-year-old grandson was asleep in a bed and Watson, 49, was on the floor, investigators said.
"She was heavily intoxicated," Galveston Police Captain Jeff Heyse said. "She was intoxicated to the point where she could not even stand up on her own power without falling back down."
Heyse said the 6-year-old told police his mother was with them when they checked into the hotel, but that she left with a man the day before. The boy told police he left the room to find his mother.
"He knew what was going on," said Heyse. "He explained to the officers that he had not seen his mother since the previous day. So, the child was very aware of what's going on."
There were no drug charges filed against Watson.
She has no prior criminal record in Harris or Galveston counties.
