Charges have been filed against Pasadena man whose niece chewed a cigar.
Roy Thomas Ruiz, 22, is charged with endangering a child.
Pasadena police said Ruiz was smoking synthetic marijuana and lost consciousness.
His two nieces, ages 14 and 2 were inside his home at the time, police said.
The children were staying with their uncle for the evening, police said.
While Ruiz was passed out, the 2-year-old grabbed one of his cigars and chewed on it, police said.
Investigators said Ruiz did not voluntarily take the child to a doctor or hospital.
He's in the Harris County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
The case has been turned over to Child Protective Services.
