Police: Man stabs girlfriend to death, kills self
Victim's sister: 'She was my best friend, my everything'
A man stabbed his girlfriend to death, fled the scene and later killed himself, police said.
It happened around 7 a.m. Saturday at an apartment in the 4000 block of Griggs road in southeast Houston.
Investigators said children were inside the apartment when the man stabbed Dalena Anderson to death. Police said they later found the man's body at a bus stop in the 5400 block of Scott.
Dalena's father, Sammie Anderson, could barely speak through his tears.
"Dalena was my everything. Anything her daddy needed," said Anderson.
Police said the couple's two children were inside the apartment when Anderson was killed. The family said the children are 9- and 7-years-old. The girl turned 9 on Sunday, just a day after her parent's deaths. The family said even with the tragedy, they're trying to do something special for the girl.
Dalena's friend, Kesha Martin, sat quietly Sunday, remembering what became a sort of tradition with the two. She said she and Dalena would start off every day drinking coffee and talking about everything that happened the day before.
"It was just a joyous occasion every day," said Martin. "The tradition will still live on. I'm going to still come drink coffee on her porch and start my day."
Dalena's sister, Symon Anderson, said she'll never forgive Dalena's killer for what he did.
"My sister, she didn't bother nobody," said Symon. "She was my best friend, my everything. She was all I had. She used to talk to me about everything, and now she's gone."
The family told Local 2 they believe the boyfriend was on drugs at the time of the stabbing.
Police have not released a motive for the killings.
