A man was in custody after police said he shot and killed a woman, fired at a police officer, then led police on a chase southeast Houston Sunday.
Houston Police said they went to a home in the 4800 block of Brisbane and Roandale for a disturbance call. When officers arrived, they said a 43-year-old man came out of the home firing shots. He managed to shoot out the windows of the officer's marked patrol car, police said.
"He doesn't even see an individual who's shooting at him," said John Cannon with the Houston Police Department. "He hears gunshots, and hears and sees two of his right-side windows blown out."
Police said the suspect then jumped into a car and sped off, leading officers on a chase. Investigators said the man exchanged gunfire with police until he finally stopped at a home in the 5300 block of Glen Rio near Sunrose in southwest Houston.
Police said the suspect tried to break into the home, but police were able to nab him first.
"I don't think he even knew these people," said Cannon. "I think he just went to somebody's home."
A Local 2 Viewer captured the dramatic end to this wild chase with his cell phone. In the video, officers are seen with their weapons drawn surrounding the home. A little later, one officer is seen kicking someone on the ground.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with cuts and scrapes on his head and arms.
Police said they'll be seeking multiple criminal charges against the suspect, including attempted capital murder against a peace officer.
No word yet on the identity of the woman the suspect is accused of shooting. Investigators said officers had been to her house twice before, once for a domestic disturbance.
