Police: Man attacks boy, woman in separate incidents
Attacks happened 2 miles apart in Kingwood
The same man suspected of attempting to rape of a woman along a Kingwood running trail is also suspected of trying to assault a young boy at a pool nearby, according to investigators.
According to investigators, the 12-year-old boy was approached as he was leaving the Bear Branch pool in the 3200 block of Cedar Knolls Drive on Saturday. As he was walking out, the man asked the boy for help finding his son and puppy.
The boy ran away screaming.
Two days later, investigators said the same man tried to attack a 19-year old woman who was walking home along a trail near Greenbelt and North Park Drive.
The man grabbed the woman by the arm, dragged her into a tunnel, choked her and demanded her to undress.
Investigators said the woman fought back and was able to run away.
"That's most definitely a cause for alarm, because it's a nice neighborhood -- safe," said neighbor Diana Griffith.
"Maybe whoever this person is feels like this is an opportune time. It's disconcerting to say the least," said neighbor Michael Griffith.
Police are working with both victims to create a composite sketch of the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
