HOUSTON -

Police said they found a gunshot and stabbing victim in a car they stopped in South Houston early Saturday morning.

The stop happened at 3:30 a.m. in 600 block of State Street.

Of the four people in the vehicle, two were hurt. Ruben Castillo, 39, was nursing a gunshot wound in his chest. Michael Sanchez, 19, had been stabbed in his side.

Authorities said they learned the injuries happened during a fight with three other men

Castillo was taken by helicopter to the hospital, and investigators said they called for an ambulance to pick up Sanchez. Officials said he later refused treatment.

At last check, Castillo was in stable condition.

Officials said the suspects took off in a red Chevy Suburban.
