Police: Driver arrested after crashing into Houston police cruiser
Emanuel Ramirez, 21, charged with DWI
Police say a 21-year-old driver was arrested after he crashed into a Houston police cruiser, sending the officer to the hospital.
Houston police said Emanuel Ramirez, 21, was driving down the North Freeway Service Road near Burress when he tried to pass a larger vehicle.
According to officials, Ramirez failed to control his speed and slammed into an HPD cruiser, causing it to spin around until it was facing oncoming traffic. Ramirez then ran into a light pole, said police.
Investigators said the officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was treated and then released.
Police said Ramirez was arrested and later charged with driving while intoxicated.
