HOUSTON -

One suspect has been arrested and another is being sought in a fatal shooting that led to a car accident, police say.

Investigators said Perla Navarro, 22, of Houston, died after attempting to evade two men.

Victor M. Buenrostro, 30, and Miguel Angel Villafana, 28, have been charged with murder.

Villfana was arrested after the shooting while Buenrostro fled police. He is currently at large, police said.

The shooting happened at 3300 West Fuqua about 5:15 a.m. on March 17.

According to authorities, Buenrostro and a witness got into an argument at a local night club in the early morning. Navarro and the witness left the night club with another witness in their vehicle, police said.

Investigators said Villafana and Buenrostro then followed Navarro and the witnesses in Villafana's vehicle. That's when Buenrostro fired shots into the vehicle the victim and witnesses were driving in, police said.

The witness, while attempting to flee, became involved in an accident at the intersection of Chimney Rock and McHard Road, police said.

Navarro and one of the witnesses was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The witness driving the vehicle was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

Navarro was pronounced dead from injuries she suffered during the accident, police said. The other two witnesses suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Villafana was detained at the location of the traffic accident. Police said Buenrostro fled and is believed to be driving a 2002 green Ford F150 pickup truck with Texas license plates #16V-TL9.

Anyone with information in this case or on the Buenrostro's whereabouts is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
