Houston police questioned a person of interest in connection with a machete attack on two homeless men behind a north Houston strip center.
The crime occurred on Crosstimbers at Jensen early Thursday. Two sleeping homeless men were attacked by a man who looked similar to a machete-wielding maniac featured in a series of popular classic horror movies.
Both victims suffered severe cuts. Six fingers were cut off during the crime, a HPD source told KPRC Local 2. One man was sliced on the neck and arm. The scene was described as a slaughterhouse. Virtually everything the two men had with them at their makeshift homeless camp had blood on it.
According to a source with knowledge of the investigation, police picked up a person of interest after a routine traffic stop. Police became suspicious when they found a machete in the van he was driving.
The source told KPRC Local 2 that the driver claimed he had nothing to do with the attack but had knowledge of it.
No charges have been filed.
The case remains under investigation.
