A dump truck driver dies after he is run over by a dump truck in northwest Houston.

Houston police said the incident happened in the 5500 block of Duoto near West Tidwell Road about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators said 57-year-old Joe Gamez, an independent dump truck operator, and another dump truck driver were working in a private dirt fill when one of the dump trucks got stuck.

Gamez walked behind the stuck truck and told the driver to back up, but Gamez did not get out of the way first, police said.

Gamez was hit by the truck and was covered in mud when investigators arrived.
