PD: Neighbors beat burglary suspects
Pasadena Police: neighbors used bats and pipes
Two men were in the hospital Monday after police said neighbors beat them for trying to break into a home.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m., four men with guns busted into a home in the 900 Block of Perla Road near Lafferty Road in Pasadena, officials said.
Police said the suspects left after finding out someone was inside. They tried to leave the scene, but neighbors confronted them with baseball bats and pipes, and a fight broke out, according to investigators.
"There was so much going on, you couldn't even really tell. Everything happened at once," witness Tobie Ruyna said. "(They were) just beating up that dude. Cops came and had their guns pulled. I couldn't even move my truck. They told me to step out of the way."
One of the suspects was so badly beaten, he had to be airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center for treatment. Another suspect was taken to Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena.
Two others were arrested a short time later when police spotted them in a sport utility vehicle matching one spotted at the scene. Officers pulled them over and arrested them.
The suspects' names and conditions were not released.
