PD: 5 break in to southwest Houston Houston high school
HISD Police: suspects broke in through window
Five teenagers broke into a southwest Houston high school Friday and two were caught, police said.
The burglary happened at Madison High School, 13719 Whiteheater, around 3 a.m.
Investigators said the intruders got inside the school by breaking a window. In the process, they tripped a silent alarm. Houston Independent School District officers arrived on the scene and found the suspects in one of the classrooms, officials said.
Police arrested two of the suspects. The other three ran off and jumped a fence. Police brought K9 officers to help with the search, but the suspects escaped. All them are about 18 years old, officials said.
HISD officials said the suspects are students. The two who were arrested have been charged with criminal mischief.
Nothing was stolen, HISD said.
Investigators are reviewing the school's surveillance video. They hoped it would provide a better description of the three who got away.
Police said the classroom was ransacked and desks were turned over. Repairs were made to the school and classes began as scheduled Friday morning.
