BAYTOWN, Texas -

One person is dead and two others are suffering from serious injuries after a car slammed into a ditch in Baytown around 5 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Police said the driver, a 22-year-old male, was speeding on North Main Street near Archer in a black Honda Civic when the car drove off the road and into a ditch. Officials said the car hit a culvert, went airborne and slammed into a power pole before it landed upside down.

Investigators said the crash killed driver. Two other women, ages 21 and 22, were also in the car. Authorities said the two women were in serious condition and had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter.

So far, the names of the driver and passengers have not been released. Police said they think alcohol may have been involved.
