Old Glory holds special meaning for store owner
Businesses all over the Houston area fly flags for the July 4 holiday, but for one store owner, the flag has a special meaning.
Luella Bolding has been running Lou B's Antiques in Montrose off Westheimer for nearly 20 years. She stocks everything from albums to flags, and it's easy to figure out why Independence Day means so much to her.
"My son, Lance Cpl. Todd Bolding, died in Iraq in 2004. It hurts. It always hurts," Bolding said.
These days, Bolding spends her time showing people around her store and honoring her son's memory, along with all the other people who have given their life defending Americans' freedom and independence.
"This is the day that we moan and we hurt, but we also go on. I want to remember all our guys," Bolding said.
Todd Bolding is buried at the Houston National Cemetery.
