Police officers arrested two men who were suspected of burglarizing cars.
Shortly before 4 a.m. on Nov. 4, La Porte police officers went to the 2200 block of Meadowlark Lane after receiving a complaint of a motor vehicle burglary in progress.
Officers said they parked around the block from the incident in order to keep from scaring the suspects off.
Taylor Ellard, 21, was arrested as he attempted to flee the area, police said.
A second suspect, 22 year-old Lance Potts, initially ran away from the officers, but police said he was quickly apprehended while hiding in an open garage of a nearby home.
Both Ellard and Potts were charged with burglary of a motor vehicle. Potts received an enhanced felony charge based on a history of similar crimes.
La Porte officers involved in the arrest passed credit to the citizen who reported the original burglary. They said if the call had not come in so quickly, and if the citizen had not stayed on the phone with police dispatch for an extended period of time, Potts and Ellard would likely have escaped undetected.
