Officer injured in hit-and-run

A Houston police officer was taken to a hospital after her patrol car was hit in southwest Houston.
Investigators said the officer, who was responding to a call to help another officer, was going through the intersection of Beltway 8 and South Post Oak with her lights and siren on when her patrol car was hit about 5 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver who hit the officer's car left the scene, police said.
The car that person was driving caught fire a few blocks away from where the wreck happened, detectives said.
The police officer suffered minor injuries. She was treated at a hospital and released.
