Off-duty Harris County sheriff's deputy dies in wreck

An off-duty Harris County sheriff's deputy died in a wreck in south Houston, investigators said.
Houston police said the wreck happened in the northbound lanes of state Highway 288 near Reed Road shortly before 3 p.m.
The deputy died at the scene. His name has not been released.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
