A billboard in Victoria, Texas, reads "Pray for Obama," but the scripture it quotes has people in the area talking.
Psalm 109:8 reads "May his days be few. May another take his place of leadership." It may sound harmless enough, but a pastor at Christ the Victor Lutheran Church said the entire Psalm implies that President Barack Obama should die.
Local 2 couldn't find the person who paid for the billboard, but area residents had diverse opinions about the message.
"Oh no. I don't think he should be killed. I think we need a new president. But if that's really insinuating that he should die, it shouldn't be there," said Pat Stillwell, who lives in Victoria.
Others in the area said there's nothing wrong with the billboard.
"I don't think it's controversial at all because if you take the scripture that he specifically mentions, he's just saying he hopes the man goes away and he's not in power anymore. That's all there is to it," Victoria resident Mike Atkinson said.
Others said the billboard is disrespectful and shouldn't be there.
"I don't think anyone deserves to be humiliated like that. You have different points of view on what you like and what you don't like, but putting up signs like that is just causing trouble," said Becky Barajas, who lives in Victoria.
